Long ago in Africa, Hare lived in a cave. Hare liked his cave very much. One day, when Hare was away, Caterpillar went into the cave.

Hace mucho tiempo, Liebre vivía en una cueva. Liebre le gustaba mucho su cueva. Un día, cuando Libre no estaba, Oruga entró en la Cueva.
"What a nice place to live," said Caterpillar. "Que bonito lugar para vivir", dijo Oruga.

"Oh, my!" he said. "Who is in my cave?" "Ay! Quien está en mi cueva?
Caterpillar called out from inside the cave. "It is I!" he said in a very big voice. "I am the biggest and the strongest one of them all!"

Hare thought, "Dear me! I am a very small animal. How will I ever get back into my cave?"

Soon Jackal came by. Hare asked Jackal if he would help. Jackal said he would try.

Jackal stepped up to the cave. "Who is in the cave of my friend the Hare?" he said.

Leopard stepped up to the cave. "Who is in the cave of my friend Hare?" he said. Caterpillar called back as he had done before.

Leopard thought, "Oh, no! If the one in the cave is that big and that strong, I do not even want to think about what he could do to me!" And Leopard ran away, too. Pensaba Leopardo, "Ay! Next Rhinoceros came by. Hare asked Rhino for help.
 Despues, vino Rinoceronte. Liebre le pidió Rhino su ayuda.
"It is good that you came to me for help," said Rhino. No one is bigger or stronger than I am." Yet when Rhino heard Caterpillar's very big voice, he was scared, too. He thought, "I know I am big. But that one in the cave must be even bigger than I am!" And Rhino ran away very fast.
 "Está bueno que usted vino a mi para ayuda", dijo Rhino. "Pero aquél en la cueva debe ser incluso más grande que yo!" Nadie es má grande o más fuerte que soy." Aún cuando Rhino escucuchó la voz tan grande de Oruga, tambien le dio miedo. Pensaba, "Sé que soy grande. Pero aquél en la cueva debe ser incluso más grande que yo!" Y rapidamente Rhino se fugió lejos.
Then Elephant tried. Even he ran away!
 Entonces Elefante intentó. Incluso él corrió lejos de allá!
"Dear me!" said Hare. "Now Elephant has run away. What will I do now?" "Que pena!" dijo Liebre. "Ahora Elefante se ha fugado. Que voy hacer ahora?"
Then Frog came by. "Please, friend Frog," said Hare. "Will you help me?"

Frog stepped up to the cave. He called, "I, who am the strongest one of all, have come at last. I am even bigger than the one who says he is the biggest of all. And I am even stronger than the one who says he is the strongest of all!"

And slowly, very slowly, he came out of the cave. He hoped that no one would see him.

When all the other animals saw Caterpillar, they did not know what to think. They said, "What? All that time it was you inside the cave?"

As Caterpillar moved on, the animals laughed at how they were fooled by the big voice in the cave. Mientras Oruga seguía adelante, los animales se rieron de cómo fueron engañados por la voz grande en la cueva.
